Just like most Arabian countries, Israel is a nation located in a geographical environment that is not actually conducive to farming. This is major because half of its landmass is deserts with little to no rainfall every year. Also in areas with more arable land, there are fewer water resources to boost farming, this would have made anyone think that Israel can never prosper in farming but this is not the case.

When a nation is blessed with intellectual leaders who would do anything for the good of its people, the nation will always develop.

Even though only 3.7% of the population are farmworkers, Israel still manages to produce 95% of food for its citizens and they range from crops like grains, tropical fruits, vegetables, grapes, meat, sugar and oilseeds.

How is this possible?

Even though Israel has a shortage of water for Agriculture, this problem was solved by collecting rainwater that falls from September to April. This would sum up to 5.6 billion cubic feet annually and 75 per cent are used for Agriculture.

Also, Israel developed a Network of pipelines, reservoirs and canals that stores and transport water from North to South. Israel also makes use of freshwater sources for their farming.

Israeli agricultural production rose 26% between 1999 and 2009, while the number of farmers dropped from 23,500 to 17,000. Farmers have also grown more with less water, using 12% less water to grow 26% more productive.

What Foods Are Produced In Israel?

Due to the diversity in the climates and geographical environment of the Agriculture farmlands, a wide range of farm crops are being produced yearly. These include Wheat, sorghum and corns, fruits like avocados, citrus, mangoes, guavas and grapes are also produced. Peppers, tomatoes, zucchinis, melons and other vegetables are also produced yearly. Apples, cherries, pears, cotton and bananas are also farm products.
